Gingrich plans Reno, Carson City stop after Florida primary

LAS VEGAS (AP) ? Newt Gingrich is looking beyond the make-or-break Florida primary.

The former house speaker plans to campaign in northern Nevada starting Feb. 2, just days after Florida?s pivotal GOP presidential primary on Jan. 31.

Gingrich?s Nevada finance co-director George Harris told The Associated Press on Monday that Gingrich will stop in Carson City and Reno before visiting Las Vegas.
New Hampshire, South Carolina and Florida are all scheduled to hold nominating contests before Nevada?s Feb. 4 caucuses.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Texas Congressman Ron Paul have the strongest campaign operations in Nevada, but Gingrich, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum and Texas Gov. Rick Perry have all indicated they will compete in Nevada if their campaigns survive the earlier contests.

Romney won Nevada?s caucuses in 2008.
