Thieves Pull Off Daring $1.5 Million iPad Mini Heist

Evan Schwartz Posted November 15, 2012

Two thieves got the haul of a lifetime this week - $1.5 million worth of new Apple products. The crooks apparently broke into a cargo building at New York's JFK Airport, and used forklifts to jack a shipment of brand-new iPad Minis. A security guard got suspicious and chased them off, but not before they have nabbed 3,600 iPads scot-free. They are still on the loose, but police suspect it was an inside job.

With Black Friday fast approaching, the theft means that 3,600 unlucky folks will be without iPad minis come the holidays - at least for the moment. With that many iPads nabbed, the question remains - does anyone really need to play Angry Birds that badly?
